Apple Unveiled AirPods 4 Ultimate Sound Upgrade

Apple AirPods 4

Apple released the AirPods 3 over three years ago, and a new model AirPods 4 with many enhancements and additional functions is expected later this year.

First-generation AirPods Pro inspired many third-generation AirPods advancements. The second-generation AirPods Pro may influence the changes to the AirPods 4. A Bloomberg research by Mark Gurman provides the greatest predictions.

Two Types

Apple is rumoured to be developing two AirPods 4 with differing prices. It appears that Apple plans to replace both its third-generation and second-generation AirPods. The AirPods 2 and 3 have barely any differences outside their looks.

ANC and a speaker in the charging case will be added to the higher-end AirPods, previously only available in the AirPods Pro.

Modifications to Design

Next-generation AirPods may have a design similar to the present AirPods and AirPods Pro, with shorter stems. Apple may add silicone ear tips, but fit is expected to improve.

H2 Chip

The next-generation AirPods may have the H2 chip from the second-generation AirPods Pro. H1 chips are in both second- and third-generation AirPods.

The H2 chip in the AirPods Pro, together with a low-distortion audio driver and proprietary amplifier, offers a “exceptional acoustic experience” according to Apple. The H2 chip in the AirPods Pro enables computational audio improvements, resulting in fuller bass and better sound across varied frequencies. These advancements are anticipated to be present in the AirPods 4 .

Additionally, the H2 chip may provide speedier connection and device switching, permanent battery information, and personalised spatial audio.

5.3 Bluetooth

The H2 chip and Bluetooth 5.3 connection are present in the AirPods Pro. It’s quite likely that the AirPods 4 will get Bluetooth 5.3, as a lot of Apple goods already have it. Bluetooth 5.3 speeds up and improves Bluetooth accessory connectivity and power efficiency, extending battery life.

Extended Life of Batteries

The H2 chip included in the second and third generations of AirPods uses less power than the H1 chip. An extra hour and a half of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation activated is made possible by the H2 chip and Bluetooth 5.3 in the ‌AirPods Pro‌ as opposed to the former model. This might result in an improvement in battery life from five to roughly six and a half hours for the regular AirPods.

Volume Handles

The addition of touch-based volume controls to the AirPods, akin to those found on the AirPods Pro, is another possibility. Putting one’s thumb on the stem of either AirPod and using one’s index finger to swipe up or down on the little touch control area is how users adjust the volume.

On-device volume controls, however, might be seen by Apple as a premium feature exclusive to the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, thus the AirPods 4 might still be without them.

Locate My Enhancements

In order to fully interact with Find My, the MagSafe Charging Case is also probably going to receive a number of upgrades. Here, the U1 processor for Precision Tracking and the integrated speaker of the second-generation AirPods Pro presented two important innovations.

It is currently possible to locate them using the ‌Find My‌ app on your iPhone or iPad, albeit this is a limited experience since it only shows you whether they are close or not. If your AirPods are on a different floor, your iPhone may indicate it with an arrow pointing in their exact direction and an approximate distance. All of these features are made possible by the U1 chip.

A similar sound can presently be heard through the earbuds of your AirPods to assist you in finding them. You should probably expect a very muffled sound if the earphones are inside the charging case. In order to improve the clarity of location alerts from AirPods and enable customers to detect the case even when it is disconnected from the earbuds, Apple integrated a speaker into the charging case of the most recent AirPods Pro model. When the next edition of the standard AirPods is released, it is anticipated that the same speaker will be included.

Because the lanyard loop on the AirPods Pro functions as an antenna for the U1 chip, it’s also important to keep in mind that, should Precision Tracking be available, this little functionality might potentially be added to the next version of AirPods.

Charging Support for Apple Watch

Using a Lightning cable, a Qi wireless charger, or a MagSafe, the third-generation AirPods may be charged. Apple included an extra charging option for its most recent AirPods Pro model: an Apple Watch charger.

Since charging technologies don’t appear to be “Pro”-only features according to Apple, it is possible that the AirPods 4 will include this additional charging way as a standard feature to increase their versatility.

Functions of Hearing Aids

The ability to use AirPods as an over-the-counter (OTC) alternative to regular hearing aids will reportedly be included by Apple in a software update that launches later in the following year. The OTC hearing aid choices were approved by the FDA in 2022, which allowed Apple to sell the AirPods to anyone with hearing loss. A hearing test that would determine whether AirPods users had hearing loss is another purported feature of Apple’s coming service.

Port USB-C

The AirPods 4 , like the latest iPhone models and USB-C AirPods Pro, will have a USB-C charging port.

Airpods 4 release date

In September or October of 2024, according to rumours, the fourth version of AirPods will go on sale.
