CNTXT’s Sovereign Controls
Google Cloud is dedicated to assisting their clients in meeting their needs for digital sovereignty by collaborating with reliable, local partners. Google Cloud and CNTXT have teamed to offer Sovereign Controls by CNTXT in Saudi Arabia. The product is currently available to the general public. In order to assist enterprises in meeting increasingly strict data sovereignty standards, this offering which is made available through Assured Workloads adds more CNTXT-operated controls to Google Cloud’s Class C-certified infrastructure. With this option, CNTXT improves Google Cloud by offering Key Access Justifications (KAJ), regulated External Key Management (EKM), and localized support.
Customer data is encrypted at rest using EKM with KAJ using keys that are kept off-site from Google Cloud’s infrastructure. Customers have the option to refuse access for any reason, including requests for data from outside their territory, although it does demand thorough explanations each time access to keys is needed. As part of this offering, CNTXT manages the external key manager and configures and implements key access policies on behalf of clients in collaboration with Fortanix and Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE). CNTXT guarantees Saudi-based support staff for Google Cloud through localised support.

This package is transacted directly with Google and is ideal for organisations that do not require the additional assurance of a local partner. It makes it simple for businesses to set up fundamental security features for Google Cloud services, like data residency at-rest, in use, and in transit. It also monitors the controlled environment for compliance violations, permits transparent and approved administrative access, and optionally supports customer-managed encryption.

Growth of Vertex AI
The Vertex AI platform from Google Cloud is now more widely available in Saudi Arabia. Its primary services were operational in the Dammam cloud area in May 2024.
