NVIDIA GB200 NVL72
Supported by Western Digital Enterprise SSDs for AI Compute-Intensive Environments

Western Digital Corp. has certified its PCIe Gen5 DC SN861 E1.S enterprise-class NVMe SSDs to support the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 rack-scale system

The rapid growth of AI, ML, and large language models (LLM) has created two opposing forces that pose a danger to enterprises. Businesses are under pressure to quickly derive value from the increasing volume of data being produced and used. AI technology stacks need to be effective, scalable, and performant as storage needs rise. The GB200 NVL72 system is certified to operate with Western Digital's corporate SSD, which satisfies the growing needs of the AI industry for high-speed accelerated computing and low latency to enable compute-intensive AI scenarios.

The NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system not only helps meet the diverse accelerated computing needs of data centers around the world, but it also provides manufacturers with a reference architecture that allows them to quickly and economically develop more than 100 system design configurations while maintaining consistency in both performance and design.

Storage has become more important and dynamic inside the AI technology stack, according to Rob Soderbery, EVP and GM of Flash Business at Western Digital. Customers may use Western Digital's DC SN861 E1.S enterprise SSD, which is certified to support NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, to remove design uncertainty and expedite time to market for a range of accelerated computing applications.

"Data storage systems need enough capacity and performance to support the computational loads and speeds required for large, sophisticated AI models," said Mark Taylor, Senior Data Center Product Manager at NVIDIA. "Western Digital's four- and eight-terabyte DC SN861 SSDs have been tested and verified to support the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system, offering customers a high-performance, enterprise-class storage solution for accelerated computing applications."

In June, Western Digital presented a six-phase AI Data Cycle approach that describes the best storage setup for AI workloads of a big scale. This approach helps customers design and build advanced storage infrastructures to maximize their AI investments, increase productivity, and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their AI operations. For every stage of the AI Data Cycle, Western Digital offers a variety of storage options.
